Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is celebrated in a variety of ways by different people, but it all revolves on the birth of Jesus Christ. The 25th of December is Christmas. Jesus is claimed to have been born on this day. Nobody knows for certain when Jesus was born. Nonetheless, in 137 AD, the Bishop of Rome commanded that the Christ child’s birthday be commemorated as a solemn feast. Julius I, a Roman Bishop, chose December 25th as the day to commemorate Christmas in 350 AD. People celebrate Christmas in a variety of ways. My family, for example, decorates our entire house for Christmas. We also give gifts, attend church, and prepare a large meal. Despite doing all of these things, we remember the “real” meaning of Christmas: to commemorate Jesus Christ’s birth.
