Sticky rice is a common food made from sticky glutinous rice steamed or cooked – a rustic dish which is very prevalent in many Asian countries. As a Vietnamese people, might be you also like eating sticky rice or used to eat this dish at least once in your life.
Vietnam is an agricultural country with the major crop is water rice. There are many varieties of rice, and sticky glutinous rice is a speciality of Vietnam. With glutinous rice, people can make a lot of different delicacies.
Among them, sticky rice (or “xôi” in Vietnamese) is an indispensable dish of Vietnamese people. In the full moon days, Tet holidays, weddings, death anniversaries, sticky rice is a “must-have”dish for a perfect feast flatter.
While the stovetop works great for sticky rice, using a rice cooker is an even easier technique to try.
For one, the rice cooker requires fewer steps than the stovetop and two, it’s rather foolproof with its timing. Here’s how to make sticky rice in a rice cooker:
Measure two cups of rice and two and a half cups of water into the rice cooker. Allow the rice to stand and soak for 30 minutes to four hours; again, the longer you wait, the more authentic your sticky rice will taste.
Toss in 1/2 teaspoon of salt, close the lid and turn on the rice cooker. If your rice cooker has an automatic timer, let it go until it shuts off. Otherwise, cook the rice for 15 to 20 minutes.

Ingredients: Half a kilo of glutinous rice (the best kind of sticky rice is still called yellow flower sticky rice, don't know why. Half a red ripe gac fruit, sugar, grain salt. Method: Soak the rice for half a day - 1 day and then take it out to drain, you can put it in a stainless steel rack or a large bowl. Grate the inside (temporarily called the Gac filling) into a small bowl, pour in the wine and use a spoon to melt the Gac meat and then pour it into the rice, use a spoon to stir the rice evenly. Sprinkle with half a teaspoon of granulated salt to add more flavor to the sticky rice. (no need to remove gac seeds). Put the bowl/steaming base on the bottom, pour 2 large bowls of water and place the basket/bowl of rice on top. Plug in the rice cooker and set it to Cook as usual.
In the process of making sticky rice with a rice cooker (lasting about 1 hour - an hour and a half), you should regularly check the pot and sometimes turn on the Warm mode when the water is boiling (Because remember that the sticky rice is cooked by steam). Also pay attention 2-3 times open the pot lid to stir to cook rice evenly!
When the sticky rice is soft (try it by rolling the rice grain by hand), add about 2 tablespoons of sugar, stir well with chopsticks and cover, let Cook mode for about 10 minutes to finish and put on a plate. (Adding sugar later is because if you add sugar at the beginning, the rice will take longer to cook.)
When putting sticky rice on a plate to burn incense, abstain from eating tightly, also fasting first to show respect. My mother doesn't like to put fat because she doesn't like to eat it, however, to make the color more beautiful, you can add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil / 1 little chicken fat and stir with sticky rice at the same time as sugar.
Depending on your taste, you can add grated coconut / coconut milk to mix with sticky rice for more fat and aroma, at the same time as for sugar. Some people are more picky, making more green beans or green beans that have quit martial arts. Simple method: soak green beans before about 3 hours and then use a steaming pot/basket. When the green beans are cooked, add sugar and grated coconut, stir well and then steam for about 5-10 minutes. Remove steamed green beans, add 1 tablespoon of boiling water, use a spoon to puree until smooth. Should steam beans first and then use the same tools to steam Gac sticky rice. When it's time to put out a plate (preferably with a mold), you can put the bottom layer of sticky rice, then beans, then sticky rice, then beans, then sticky rice, then you have a plate of sticky rice with green beans, which is both delicious and beautiful with 2 red colors - brilliant gold.
