• 5 yếu tố cần thiết : lời dẫn ( said that …, told + O that…, asked …., asked + O …), lùi thì (lùi 1 thì), đổi ngôi (đúng với nghĩa của câu trực tiếp), quy tắc gần-xa , trạng từ trạng ngữ

• - Yes-no : S + asked + O + if/ whether + S2 + ……. (lùi thì, đổi ngôi,…)

  - Wh- , How … : S + asked + O + wh-…, how…. + S2 ….(lùi thì, đổi ngôi …)
