I live in Hanoi, the biggest city in Viet Nam. Like any other big city of a developing country, Hanoi has several problems related to environmental pollution such as water pollution, air pollution and noise pollution. In my area, the pollution that causes the most trouble is noise pollution.

Noise pollution takes place when there is either too much noise or unwanted sound that leads to a harmful impact on the activity of human or animals.

The main reason for noise pollution in my area is the sound of vehicles in the street. I live right beside the busiest street in Hanoi, therefore from early morning until late at night, I have to suffer from the loud sounds of motorbikes, car horns, and engines. The second source of noise in my area is the sound of people speaking, singing, advertising, or even shouting from the coffee shops and street food vendors on the pavement outside. Those sounds put together to make my living place really polluted from noise. Last but not least, the most obvious source of noise is from the construction zone nearby. They are building several big apartment buildings and the sound of construction equipment all day long is really annoying.

Although noise pollution is not as harmful as air, water or soil pollution, it brings a lot of bad effects to humans in both terms of health and behavior. Noise pollution can cause high stress levels, hearing loss, and sleep disorders.

In my situation, the noise really affects my concentration on learning. And sometimes, I cannot fall asleep because of the construction equipment noise at night.
Noise pollution is getting worse and worse in the big cities. In my opinion, there are some solutions that can be applied to reduce noise pollution. First, there need to be some regulations on working hours for construction sites. Second, the shops and businesses need to have raised awareness of the effects of noise pollution coming from their activities. Therefore, they will come up with their own solutions that match their conditions. Finally, as far as I know, growing more trees also helps to reduce noise levels. These actions should be taken into account with the support of authorities.
