Science and technology are changing every aspect of our lives. From the way we cook, to the way we communicate, to the way we entertain ourselves, nothing is immune from the incredible advances being made in labs around the world. There are some areas that are changing more than others, though. The most talked-about transformations are happening in two fields: medicine and transportation.
In medicine, the possibilities seem almost limitless. Genetic engineering has made it possible to eradicate certain diseases entirely, and some scientists believe it could eventually lead to a cure for cancer. These same advancements have also given us new ways of preventing pregnancy and new insights into our evolution as a species. Even more excitingly, scientists have recently started to experiment with using stem cells to regrow nerve tissue after brain damage, a discovery that could potentially someday lead to revolutionary treatments for debilitating disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
Transportation is also undergoing a massive shift. Self-driving cars will soon be on the market, eliminating traffic jams forever and promising to save millions of lives by reducing human error in driving accidents.
