I. Phương pháp làm bài tìm từ đồng nghĩa – trái nghĩa

Từ đồng nghĩa trong tiếng Anh (Synonym/ closet meaning): Là những từ có nghĩa giống hoặc gần giống nhau.

Ví dụ:

Clever, Smart và Intelligent: Đều có nghĩa là thông minh- nhưng sắc thái khác nhau

  • Intelligent: Là từ mang đúng nghĩa thông minh nhất. Intelligent đồng nghĩa với brainy, dùng để chỉ người có trí tuệ, tư duy nhanh nhạy và có suy nghĩ logic hoặc để chỉ những sự vật, sự việc xuất sắc, là kết quả của quá trình suy nghĩ.
  • Smart: Là một tính từ có rất nhiều nghĩa, trong đó cũng có ý nghĩa gần giống với intelligent. Tuy nhiên, intelligent chỉ khả năng phân tích, giải quyết vấn đề một cách khoa học và hiệu quả, còn smart lại chỉ sự nắm bắt nhanh nhạy tình hình hoặc diễn biến đang xảy ra.
  • Clever: lại chỉ sự lanh lợi hoặc khôn ngoan.

Từ trái nghĩa (Antonym/ opposite) : Là những từ có ý nghĩa hoàn toàn trái ngược nhau

Ví dụ:

  • Long – short
  • Empty –full
  • Narrow – wide

Khi làm Dạng bài tập này các bạn lưu ý:

Bước 1: Cần đọc kỹ đề bài xem bài. Xem yêu cầu là tìm từ đồng nghĩa hay trái nghĩa nhé!

Bước 2: Sau khi đọc xong các bạn cần xác định trong câu này, từ được gạch chân mang nét nghĩa gì. Phần này rất quan trọng bởi từ đồng nghĩa cần tìm là từ có thể thay thế Từ gạch chân trong ngữ cảnh câu đó, chứ không thuần túy là đồng nghĩa với từ đó!

Đến đây bạn sẽ bắt gặp 2 trường hợp:

  • TH1: Thứ nhất, từ gạch chân quen thuộc và bạn có thể đoán nghĩa, nhưng đáp án lại có nhiều hơn 2 từ mà bạn không hề biết.
  • TH2: Thứ hai, từ gạch chân lạ bạn chưa gặp bao giờ; tuy nhiên đáp án lại có những từ thông dụng bạn đã biết.

Bạn không cần quan tâm là có bao nhiêu từ là, việc chúng ta cần làm là xác định nét nghĩa cần tìm.

Bước 3: Tiếp đến ta xét các từ đã biết nghĩa trước

  • Loại trừ các đáp án đồng nghĩa nếu đề yêu cầu trái nghĩa (và ngược lại)
  • Loại trừ các đáp án có mặt chữ gần giống với từ gạch chân. Bởi vì phần lớn các từ đồng nghĩa hoặc trái nghĩa thường không có mặt chữ giống nhau.
