There are several necessary life skills for teenagers in the United States. The first one is social skills. Teens who have these are able to cooperate with others and resolve conflicts and they also have communication skills. Cognitive skills are the second ones that US teens should have. They have planning and organizational skills. Besides, they have the ability to concentrate and be self-disciplined. The third necessary skill is housekeeping. Teens need to prepare food, do laundry and chores at home, manage a small budget and learn about basic car operation. Emotion control skills are the fourth important skills. Teenagers have to recognize and control their feelings and cope with negative emotions. The last skills are self-care. It is essential for each teen to develop healthy habits, know how to act and where to get help in emergencies and understand the boundaries of risk-taking.

I already social skills and housekeeping skills. I can cooperate pretty well with other people; therefore, I usually do well in teamwork. I can also do almost all the housework and manage a small budget. My parents give me an allowance per week and I will plan on how to spend this amount of money most effectively. However, I need to develop self-care skills and emotion control skills. I think that these two skills are very important for me to become an independent individual.
