Giong Festival is a festival which is held annually in many places in Viet Nam to commemorate and praise for the deeds of Saint Giong. Every year, this festival takes place in many local places in the honor of one of the most well-known heroes in Viet Nam – Saint Giong. There are two most famous kinds of Giong festivals in Ha Noi: Soc Son Giong Festival and Phu Dong Giong Festival. Especially, Phu Dong Giong festival is considered to be the World Intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. This festival simulates the battles of Saint Giong as well as Van Lang people against An enemy.

Dịch: Hội Gióng là một lễ hội được tổ chức hàng năm ở nhiều nơi trên Việt Nam để tưởng nhớ và ca ngợi những chiến công của Thánh Gióng. Hàng năm, lễ hội này diễn ra ở nhiều địa phương để tỏ lòng kính trọng đến một trong những vị anh hùng nổi tiếng nhất Việt Nam – Thánh Gióng. Có hai loại hội Gióng nổi tiếng nhất ở Hà Nội: hội Gióng Sóc Sơn và Hội Gióng Phù Đổng. Đặc biệt, Hội Gióng Phù Đổng được công nhận bởi là di sản văn hóa phi vật thể thế giới bởi UNESCO. Lễ hội này mô phỏng lại những trận đầu của Thánh Gióng cũng như của người dân Văn Lang trước giặc Ân. 

Christmas is well known all around the world for its special features. It occurs on 24 and 25th December but it starts from the beginning of the month. In Vietnam, Christmas has become more and more popular, especially to young people. On this day, people often decorate their houses and prepare presents,…Even so, many households in big cities buy the Christmas tree. They prepares and decorates it with colorful electric lights, gifts and and small bells. Children also love Christmas day so much. They prepare clean stocks for receiving the presents from the Santa Claus. Under the cover of darkness on 25th December night, people often go to the church to pray for best things or gather to share happiness together. In conclusion, Christmas day has become one of the most popular festivals in our country, brings a new color to the picture of a civilized religious culture in Viet Nam.
