In the early stages of adolescence, children begin to develop thinking objects, logical thinking. This increasingly complex thinking leads to increased self-perception and self-reflection. Due to many reliable changes of adolescence, this self-perception often translates into self-consciousness, accompanied by decreased sensation. Adolescents also have a preoccupation with physical beauty, attractiveness, and a heightened sense of being different from their peers. Teenagers also apply their new responses to issues of morality. Young people understand right and wrong as fixed and absolute. Older adolescents often question standards of behavior and may respond to normative media to parental appearances. Imaginatively, these responses culminate in the development and personalization of an adolescent-specific code of conduct.
