⇒Dùng reported speech ở quá khứ đơn do thì gốc là present simple. Chuyển like thành V2/ed là liked, this thành that.

⇒Dùng reported speech với -Wh question, bỏ chủ ngữ lên trước động từ. Tobe is ở đây lùi thành was và your đổi thành my.

3. "I don't speak Italian," she said.

⇒She said that she didn't speak Italian.

⇒Dùng reported speech với thì past simple, don't speak thành didn't speak và I đổi thành she.

4. "Say hello to Jim," they said.

⇒They asked me to say hello to Jim.

⇒Ở đây dùng reported speech với động từ asked, sau asked+noun+to do something.

5. "The film began at seven o'clock," he said.

⇒He said that the film had begun at seven o'clock.

⇒Dùng reported speech với thì past perfect, began đổi thành had begun.

6. "Don't play on the grass, boys," she said.

⇒She asked the boys not to play on the grass.

⇒Ở đây dùng reported speech với động từ asked, sau asked+noun+to do something.

7. "Where have you spent your money?" she asked him.

⇒She asked him where he had spent his money.

⇒Reported speech với -Wh question, bỏ Wh lên đầu câu cùng chủ ngữ, V ra sau và have spent đổi thành had spent.

8. "Are they your classmates?" asked Nam.

⇒Nam asked if they were my classmates.

⇒Dùng reported speech với yes/no question nên chuyển if và chủ ngữ lên đầu câu, tobe are ra sau đổi thành were.
