Dien Bien Province was the place where the historic battles of Dien Bien Phu were taken place in the air in 1954. Despite the resounding victory, the war left this land as the remnants of war, heroes made glorious national history. Now, I gonna tell you about the most famous place in Dien Bien. It’s Dien Bien Phu Victory Historical Site. Only 500km to the West of Hanoi, the battleground in Dien Bien Phu is a well-known site marking a victorious exploit of Vietnamese people in the war. The site is located in a valley, surrounded by mountains, hills, and paddy fields. All year-round, the mighty Nam Ron River provides it with fresh water. Realizing the strategic position of this land, in 1953, the French decided to turn it into a military headquarters and equip it with the most powerful weapons at that time. The victory indubitable caught the attention of the international community, leading to the end of the war in Vietnam after a few months. Nowadays, the distinctive beauty of Dien Bien Phu captures the hearts of every traveler. Everywhere in the valley, we can easily spot the beautiful and friendly ethnic people engaging in their daily activities. Together with the primitive yet spectacular nature of Dien Bien, these people become parts of the priceless heritage that tourists can find nowhere else in the world. The second place I want to introduce for you is Muong Thanh Valley, Dien Bien Phu Overview. Muong Thanh is a heart-shaped valley located in Dien Bien province to the northwest of Vietnam. This gorgeous basin is well-known for its natural beauty as it is surrounded by paddy fields, rivers, and stunning lakes. In fact, Dien Bien Phu is located within this valley. Muong Thanh Valley is around 12 miles long and 3 miles wide. Nam Rom River flows through the valley which makes its soil very fertile. The land is a major rice-growing field and served as the breadbasket for Viet Nimh during the battle of 1954. The best way to travel Dien Bien Phu and the Muong Thang Valley is to rent a bike from the town and go around the stunning environs on your own.
