Banh Chung is a traditional Tet dish in Vietnam. Although very delicious and eye-catching, the way to make banh chung is not fussy and difficult. To make banh chung, we will first put dong leaves in the cake mold. Then add each layer of ingredients in order: glutinous rice, green beans, spiced meat including pepper, cardamom, green beans, add a little more seasoning if you like, and sticky rice again. Then wrap the cake and leave it to steam for more than half a day, then we have a perfect banh chung. But it is necessary to press it to make the cake out of the water, then we can burn incense to our ancestors on New Year's Eve or enjoy it right away. The square banh chung appears on New Year's Day to express gratitude to heaven and earth for favorable rain and wind so that a bountiful harvest brings a prosperous life for people.
