There is a school of thought that students should be permitted to use mobile phones in class under teachers' control. Personally, I think the benefits of this idea outweigh the drawbacks. In the first place, mobile phones are a convenient way to stay in touch with students' parents. If their parents have plans altered, they are able to acknowledge chilren through cell phones. In the second place, smartphones can lend learners a hand to look for information. Teachers will rather be facilitors rather than information providers since students stands a chance to search for the information they need. Thus, students will feel a sense of participation. Last but no least, cell phones are helpful in case of emergencies. Although parents do not want to that, sometimes they need to contact their children while they are in class. This can not be done without teachers' permission for students to use phones in class. In conclusion, using mobile phones in lesson under teachers' observation is advantageous.
