Công thức: If + S + V-ed/V2 S + would/could/should... + V-inf
Dùng để diễn tả một hành động, sự việc có thể sẽ không xảy ra trong tương lai.
Câu điều kiện loại 3.
Công thức: If + S + had + Vpp/V-ed S + would/could/might + have + Vpp/V-ed
Diễn tả một hành động, sự việc đã không xảy ra trong quá khứ.
1. He smokes so much, perhaps that’s why he can’t get rid of his cough.
⇒If he didn't smoke too much, he could get rid of his cough.
2. She is very shy, that’s why she doesn’t enjoy parties.
⇒If she weren't shy, she would enjoy the party.
3. I haven’t the right change so we can’t get tickets from the machine.
⇒If I had the right change, we could get tickets from the machine
4. They speak French to her, not English, so her English doesn’t improve.
⇒If they spoke English to her intead of English, her English would improve
5. He doesn’t work overtime, so he doesn’t earn as much as I do.
⇒If he worked overtime, he would earn as much as I do
6. My number isn’t in the directory so people don’t ring me up.
⇒If my number were in the directory people would ring me up
