Thien Mu Pagoda is located on a hill of Ha Khe on the bank of Huong River, about 5km from Hue city center. According to the legend, when Lord Nguyen Hoang walked along the banks of the Huong River, examining the terrain here to prepare a great fortune, building a village overlooking Ha Khe hill with a dragon-shaped earth turned and looked back. to build a temple on the hill towards the Huong river and named it "Thien Mu". In the year of Tan Suu 1601, Thien Mu pagoda was officially started construction under the reign of Tien - Nguyen Hoang, in the period of 1691 - 1725, the pagoda was built on a larger scale and restored with many massive architectural works such as: Dai Hung Palace. , the Theory house, the Tang Kinh floor, ... there are many works that cannot be kept to this day. In 1844, the pagoda was reconstructed with Phuoc Duyen octagonal tower and Huong Nguyen communal house. The historic storm in 1904 destroyed the pagoda with many damaged works until 1907 to be rebuilt but not as before. Through many phases of architecture and restoration, today the pagoda still retains many large-scale and massive works and many valuable antiques such as Buddha statues, non-parallax panels. Phuoc Duyen Tower becomes the symbol of Thien Mu Pagoda, the 21m high tower consists of 7 floors, each floor has a Buddha statue. The Tang Kinh floor is home to 1000 sets of Buddhist scriptures that the Lord gave people to China to buy. The temple grounds are quite large, clear and airy with flower gardens, rockery, a series of stone steles inscribed on the history of the construction of the pagoda and poems of the king, especially the poem "Thien Mu common. bar "composed by King Thieu Tri is placed at the gate of the pagoda.
