I'm a big fan of the internet, but I'm also an advocate for disconnecting every once in awhile. The reason? The internet is an addictive drug. And like any addiction, it can have negative consequences on your life. I've been using the internet since it was just a baby, and I've seen many changes over those years. In fact, the way we use the internet has changed dramatically since its inception. Today, however, students are discouraged from memorizing facts as much as possible because they can easily look up answers online or use Google to search for anything they don't know offhand. I think this is why many people feel like they're losing their ability to retain information because they are! But if you think about it logically: Who needs to remember anything anymore when you can just Google it?
