1,2 The Great Pyramid of Giza is a defining symbol of Egypt and the last of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. It is located on the Giza plateau near the modern city of Cairo and was built over a twenty-year period during the reign of the king Khufu (2589-2566 BCE, also known as Cheops) of the 4th Dynasty. Khufu's pyramid, which today stands 451 feet (137m) high, is known as the "Great Pyramid" and was considered to be a wonder by ancient writers.
3,4 The Great Pyramid of Giza is the last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was built as a tomb for pharaoh Khufu, and was completed in 2560 BC. The name of the Great Pyramid actually refers to the pyramid complex as a whole, which includes two satellite pyramids and three smaller pyramids to house the burials of Khufu's consorts. The Sphinx, a large limestone statue with a lion's body and the head of Khufu, guards the entrance to the complex. The Great Pyramid is not only an architectural achievement, but also an engineering one, as it was built without modern technology. It is estimated that it would have taken 100,000 men 22 years to complete. Its sheer size is staggering: each side measures 756 feet long and its peak reaches 481 feet high. It is made up of 2.3 million limestone blocks, some weighing nearly 15 tons each; it would have taken nearly 1.5 billion pounds of stone to build it! Many attempts have been made over time to discover how this massive structure was built. Today we understand that ancient Egyptians used ramps and pulleys to move massive stones into place, but there are still many details about this process that are unknown or disputed.

5. I think the ancient wonders of the world are better than the modern ones. First of all, they are made by humans. Humans are not machines, and can't be perfect. Secondly, they might have mistakes in terms of design. For example, the Leaning Tower of Pisa was designed to be a vertical tower, but it leans because it has a defect in the foundation. It would be impossible for modern architects to make such a mistake nowadays. Finally, technology has improved so much in recent years that we can build even more impressive structures now than ever before.
