Some of the most significant negative impacts of tourism that we have discussed in class are the natural environment being damaged and traditional ways of life being affected. One negative impact that I believe is particularly prevalent is the disturbance of the natural environment, which can be seen as tourists littering or disturbing animals. This is especially true when dealing with large groups. It's no surprise that one person doing it is bad, but when 50 people do it over and over again, you can easily see how it becomes a massive problem. For example, many people like to hike up mountains, which is great in itself because they're getting exercise and enjoying nature. But if they go up there with big bags of food to eat while they're there, they might not take those bags back down with them. Then, there's all the paper and plastic waste from their food just sitting in nature for who knows how long. Another example of this would be if a group of tourists were going on a safari and decided to throw some food out to get a better picture of an animal, they're getting their picture but also throwing off the animal's natural habitat by bringing in new foods that aren't native to the area. All in all, I believe that these careless gestures by tourists can cause irreparable a dire consequences.
