The bar chart shows the total number of minutes (in billions) UK users spent making calls on local fixed line, national and international-fixed line and mobiles from 1995 to 2002.

Overall, an upward trend can be seen in the length of time used for phone calls on both national and international-fixed line and mobiles. Meanwhile, the duration of phone calls made by local-fixed line remained stable.

To begin with, the aggregated amount of time UK citizens spent calling on mobiles witnessed a steady increase in general. In the first half of the period, a constant increase of 7 billion minutes was recorded, followed by a period of striking increase in the following 4 years, finally peaking at 45 billion minutes in 2002.

Besides, starting at over 35 billion minutes in 1995, the total minutes of national and international-fixed line saw a constant increase of 25 billion minutes over the course of 8 years, reaching nearly 60 billion minutes in 2002. Meanwhile, after increasing expotientially by 20 billion minutes in the first half of the given time frame, the total amount of time used for local-fixed line went down dramatically, reaching 72 billion minutes at the end of the time span.
