English is the most important language in my opinion. It is the official language of 53 countries. In many more countries it is the second or third language spoken. In many of these countries, English is the international language used for communicating in business, politics and other fields. This means that if you know English, you will have more professional opportunities. For example, you can get a job with a foreign company which can pay you a higher salary. English is also very important to travel around the world. Many people want to be able to communicate in English when they are visiting an English-speaking country or even when they are travelling on holiday to non-English speaking countries. Finally, I think English is very important because it enables you to communicate in other areas such as science, information technology, entertainment and sport.
