Students these days are surrounded by technology 24/7, but not everyone knows how to use it effectively in learning. The best way to use technology in the learning environment is to use it as a tool to support and enhance learning. For example, iPads can be used to allow students to engage in real-life problem solving that requires critical thinking skills. A fifth grade teacher could have students design a solution for a specific problem at the local zoo that would require them to gather information about animal habitats and needs, create a budget, and do some research on plant life, all of which are relevant skills for this age group.
