Natural disasters can be defined as major adverse events resulting from natural processes of the Earth; examples include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms and other geologic processes. Disasters can have a negative effect on the economy of a nation. However, they can also have positive effects. There are many disadvantages of natural disasters.
Disaster destroys the infrastructure
Natural disasters destroy the infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, roads and homes. These infrastructures take an enormous amount of time to rebuild after a disaster strikes. Also damaged infrastructure leads to a higher rate of unemployment in the nation. This is because people may not be able to get to work if their transportation was destroyed in the disaster or if there is too much damage to roads and bridges.
