There are numerous meanings of "celebrity," but the most common is that it refers to those who are well-known to a large percentage of the public, as opposed to the ordinary citizen. Not even the most well-known actors may be considered celebrities, and anyone can become a celebrity without ever having worked in the media. It is because we appreciate a well-known individual that we pay celebrities immensely. What a celebrity says or does will be heard / seen by many, so much more than the number of lesser-known performers.

In addition, circumstances outside of the network inspire me to think about sports (though the following also applies to show business) and goods. Consider the aging footballers towards the end of their careers who continue to earn a decent living, such as Totti in Rome. Despite the fact that he no longer plays at a high level, his jerseys continue to sell well, not just in Italy, and people purchase tickets and pay-per-view credits solely to see him; thus, he produces a significant turnover for his organization, which alone covers his salary.

In conclusion, celebrities may make a lot of money because they acquire the public's and media's confidence, as well as because they are widely regarded and admired.
