The Vietnamese community has 54 different ethnic groups.  In which, the Kinh (Vietnamese) people account for nearly 90% of the total population of the country, the remaining 10% are the population of 53 ethnic groups.

 



 Over the centuries, the community of Vietnamese ethnic groups has been attached together throughout the history of fighting against the invading enemy, defending the border, gaining freedom, independence and building the country.  Each ethnic group almost has its own language, writing and cultural identity.

 Ethnic cultural identities are clearly shown in community activities and economic activities.  From costumes, food, accommodation, social relations, customs in weddings, funerals, worship, festivals, calendars, entertainment and entertainment of each ethnic group bring common traits.  That is the virtue of hard work, intelligence in production;  with nature - in harmony;  to the enemy - zero tolerance;  to people - kindness, altruism, humility ... All those characteristics are the qualities of Vietnamese people.

 * 54 ethnic groups living in Vietnam can be divided into 8 groups according to the following languages:

 - The Viet - Muong group has 4 ethnic groups: Kinh (Vietnamese), Chut, Muong, Tho.
 - The Tay - Thai group has 8 ethnic groups: Bo Y, Giay, Lao, Lu, Nung, San Chay, Tay, Thai.
 Mon - Khmer group has 21 ethnic groups: Ba Na, Brau, Bru - Van Kieu, Cho Ro, Co, Co Ho, Co Tu, Gie Trieng, Hre, Khang, Khmer, Kho Mu, Ma, Mang, M  'Nong, O Du, Ro Mam, Ta Oi, Xinh Mun, Xo Dang, Xtieng.
 - The Mong - Dao group has 3 ethnic groups: Dao, Mong, and Pa Then.
 - Kadai group has 4 ethnic groups: Co Lao, La Chi, La Ha, Pu Peo.
 - The Nam Dao group has 5 ethnic groups: Cham, Chu Ru, E De, Gia Rai, Ra Glai.
 - The Han group has 3 ethnic groups: Hoa, Ngai, and San Diu.
 - The Tibetan group has 6 ethnic groups: Cong, Ha Nhi, La Hu, Lo Lo, Phu La, Si La.
