SSahara Desert is the largest one in the world. It is in North Africa. It extends from Atlantic Ocean eastward past the Red Sea to Iraq. The desert lies largely in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Sudan. Its total area is more than 9065000 sq km. It’s 1610 km wide and about 5150 km long from east to west. The land is arid and the climate is dry. It’s very hot in summer and very cold in winter. There’re few oases in the desert. There is sandy land and large dunes of sand. Tableland’s average elevation from 400 to 500 m. There are few form of animals and vegetables life. The main trees are cactus, the date palm, and a form of acacia. Its main animals are gazelle, antelope, fox, jackal and camel.

The Sahara is the world's largest desert in Africa, the third largest desert on Earth (after Antarctica and the Arctic Region), with an area of more than 9,000,000 km², approximately the size of the United States and China Country. The Sahara is in northern Africa and is 2.5 million years old. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Red Sea and Egypt to the east; Sudan and the Niger River valley to the south. The highest point in the desert is Mount Emi Koussi with an altitude of 3415 m above sea level, in the Tibesti mountain range in northern Chad.
