The biggest pro about making friends online as I see it, is the excessive amount of people online. You are sure to find at least one person who matches your interests, and it is often a lot easier to approach these persons if you are shy by nature in the real world. One of the biggest cons of an online friendship however is the uncertainty that comes along with it. People are known to be deceptive online and some carry malicious intent. You have to keep your guard up and follow safe internet behavior, which is not always easy, if the counterpart is very charismatic. Furthermore compared to a person you meet in real life, your online friend is able to disappear without a trace over night. It is even easy for them, as for the better or worse, you and your friend carry no actual responsibilities toward each other.
