We use although , despite / in spite of to express contrast between two pieces of information in the same sentence . We use although before a clause and despite/ in spite of before a noun or a noun phrase .

`+` Đứng đằng sau nó thường thường là một danh từ ;  cụm danh từ ;  động từ thêm V-ing.

`+` Nó mang ý nghĩa mặc dù .

`+` Nó cũng có cách sử dụng đối ngược với cụm because of .

`+`Despite/In spite of + Noun/Noun Phrase/V-ing, S + V + …

`+`S + V + …despite/in spite of + Noun/Noun Phrase/V-ing.

Ví dụ :

Although the weather was bad, she went to school on time.
`=>`  Despite the bad weather,she went to school on time

`+` Clause + In spite of + N / NP /V-ing

Ví dụ : 

 My mother told me to go to school although I was sick.
`=>` In spite of my sickness,my mother told me to go to school 

Despite/In spite of + (cụm) danh từ/Ving, S+V.

VD: Despite the heavy rain, we managed to get to school on time. 

       In spite of being injured, he still plays basketball.

S+V+... despite/in spite of + (cụm) danh từ/Ving.

VD: We managed to get to school on time despite the heavy rain.

       He still plays basketball in spite of being injured.

Despite/In spite of + the fact that + S+V, S+V.

VD: Despite the fact that the rain was heavy, we managed to get to school on time.

       In spite of the fact that he is injured, he still plays basketball.

S+V+...+despite/in spite of the fact that S+V.

VD: We managed to get to school on time despite the fact that the rain was heavy.

       He still plays basketball in spite of the fact that he is injured.
