When it comes to bats, most of us probably think of animals with a "unique" upside-down sleep pattern. According to scientists, the bats' unlike-like sleeping position actually has its own purpose. Specifically, unlike birds or insects, the bat's skin wings do not have enough force to easily lift them from the ground to the air. Therefore, at rest, bats always choose an elevated position so that when they need to fly, they just drop themselves down, taking advantage of the air resistance to assist in taking off. However, according to statistics, up to 6 species of bats do not hang upside down while sleeping. Most of them have sucking sensation on the limbs, allowing them to attach to leaves or other flat surfaces to rest.
