Although she arrived, my mother-in-law invited us to have a meal.
I had a pretty good excuse at the time to avoid eating (on the floor). First I had to drag my luggage into the room and this took 10 minutes. And because the bedroom is not on the ground floor. I have to carry our big luggage through the narrow round staircase. Traces of luggage luggage from previous years are still here.
2 liters of sweat were wet on our body and then our belongings were finally safe in the room. Through the small window, I could see the chickens and as usual, they would undoubtedly crows from 4 am every day. I know we will have to eat "tons" of chicken over this holiday. Unfortunately, these items are not usually included in the menu.
Did you hear the song The Wizard Of Oz: “There’s No Place Like Home”? Dorothy is not wrong ...
Eat on the floor
It always seems to be meal time during the New Year season.
Even in more difficult areas, Vietnamese people never lack food for the New Year. Especially when there are foreigners eating with them. They want to entertain you so you should not be too poor to eat.
I really admire the Vietnamese who sit and eat on the floor, I realize that I've lost this ability since childhood. With a large body and long legs, I could not sit comfortably for so long.
There are many dishes to choose from but most of the Tet dishes are pork (because pork is quite cheap here), chicken (because Vietnamese like chicken) and banh chung (typical dish must have during Tet) with a few specialties of the countryside.
This year, my first dish is Tiet Canh. What better way to start the holiday with a dish that even your wife begs you not to touch for hygiene reasons? I don't want to eat this either, but since at least 10 people are staring at me, I give it a try.
This year, my parents took me to see fireworks. Colorful fireworks display. The cannon was fired in just 15 minutes. but in those 15 minutes the whole night sky was glowing in the shimmering colors of fireworks. Everyone was happy to watch the fireworks. At that time, the atmosphere was very lively. I and everyone applauded for the fireworks display.
