In 2017, he had a more favorable public reception for "Lost" and "His residence" after leaving the company before. That year, Tung also released M-tp compilation album and published his autobiography. At the age of eight, he joined Thai Binh Children's Art and Cultural Palace and learned to play electronic keyboard. Tung's mother plays guitar and her husband plays seven instruments; however, they disapprove of their son pursuing a singing career and want him to focus on education; his father wants him to study business at school. Despite this, Tung regularly participates in singing shows and housing contests

These were followed by successful singles, "Chắc ai đó sẽ về" and "Chúng ta không thuộc về nhau". In 2017, he had a more-favorable public reception for "Lạc trôi" and "Nơi này có anh" after branching away from his previous company. That year, Tùng also released the compilation album m-tp M-TP and published his autobiography, Chạm tới giấc mơ.
