Quoc Tu Giam Temple is a building built to teach and worship Confucius and the Confucian scholars. Temple of Literature was built in 1070 under King Ly Thanh Tong, and Quoc Tu Giam was built in 1076, under King Ly Nhan Tong.

It can be said that the Ly dynasty was the most developed period of Vietnamese education in the feudal kings and the Quoc Tu Giam project was the clearest evidence for King Ly Nhan Tong's determination to improve his education.

This is a work built to promote the spirit of studiousness of the people as well as finding talents to serve the country. After being built, learning in Quoc Tu Giam began in 1076.

Students of Quoc Tu Giam are students who have passed the Huong examination and passed the examination at the Ministry of Ceremony. . Many famous scholars with meritorious services to the court studied at Quoc Tu Giam.

The Temple of Literature (Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam) is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Nothern Vietnam. It’s on Van Mieu street, Dong Da District, Ha Noi. The Temple of Literature was founded in 1070. The Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy included 4 main gates and 5 courtyards. This is the Temple of Literature – where the thousands of scholars used to study. It also contains offices, gift shops and a small museum. Quoc Tu Giam deserves to be a great cultural work of Vietnam and the pride of the Vietnam people in general and the Hanoians in particular.
