In Vietnam there are many famous festivals but the most popular one in Vietnam is the Tet holiday. This is the occasion that people celebrates with great joy, hope, festivity and different cultural and other programs. Tet begins from mid January to mid February. People start the arrangement to celebrate this festival about one month prior to Tet includes cooking traditional foods, cleaning their house and buying new furnitures for Tet holiday. On the Lunar New Year’s Eve, people gather together, makes prayers and stay awake till late night to enjoy the Tet's firework. During Tet adults give lucky money to children, visit friend and relatives ’houses. This is an important festival to Vietnamese people. Vietnamese take this day as an important festival day. Everyone start the year with the hope of eliminating the failure of the past year and start a fresh year with the hope of fortune and happiness. This is the time for families and relatives to gather togrther. I love Tet holiday so much.

Tet holiday he most important celebration in Vietnamese culture.Tết celebrates the arrival of spring based on the Vietnamese calendar, which usually has the date falling in January or February.

Tết is generally celebrated on the same day as Chinese New Year, except when the one-hour time difference between Vietnam and China results in new moon occurring on different days. It takes place from the first day of the first month of the Vietnamese calendar (around late January or early February) until at least the third day.  These foods include, bánh chưng, bánh dày, dried young bamboo soup ( In Viet Nam it means Măng ) giò, and sticky rice. Many customs are practiced during Tết, such as visiting a person's house on the first day of the new year (xông đất), giving lucky money to children, and opening a shop. They start forgetting about the troubles of the past year and hope for a better upcoming year. They consider Tết to be the first day of spring, and the festival is often called the spring festival ( Hội Xuân). the new year festival is so important to me and also to all Vietnamese citizens. . It is also a great time to think about what we have done in the previous year and to make plans for the upcoming year.
