Exercise is good for our brain. First, it increases the production of neurochemicals that promote brain cell repair and help control thinking and memory. Your brain can decrease in size without use and will be damaged from stress and depression. Exercise produces neurochemicals. It reverses the damage and increases the size of your brain. Second, exercise can improve memory. Research has found that exercise increases the size of the hippocampus, which is the area of the brain that plays a role in verbal memory and learning. Dr. Scott McGinnis, a lecturer in the Department of Neurology, Harvard Medical School, said that exercise helps boost your memory and thinking skills directly and indirectly. Exercise also improves multitasking and planning. People who usually do exercise have better brains than people who are not. The frontal lobe of the brain- which will be better if you do exercises- is in the area responsible for executive function. It includes such things as planning, organizing, and remembering details. There are not only three, but also more and more advantages, and I promise you will be surprised.

Among my favourite sports and hobbies, I like swimming the best for several reasons. Firstly, I think playing in the water could bring great joy. It also helps reduce stress and I always feel refreshed and relaxed after swimming for about half an hour. Secondly, swimming is an excellent way to keep myself fit and healthy. It helps build up my muscle strength and prevent many heart and lung diseases. Finally, besides being a great sport, swimming is also an important survival skill, because without knowing how to swim well, it could be dangerous if there is a flood, or simply if we want to play near bodies of water. Many of such accidents have occured to teenagers lately. In conclusion, swimming will always be my preferred hobby because it is not only healthy and fun but also a life-saving skill.
